Synopsis

Lara Jean is having the best senior year a girl could ever hope for. She is head over heels in love with her boyfriend, Peter; her dad’s finally getting remarried to their next door neighbor, Ms. Rothschild; and Margot’s coming home for the summer just in time for the wedding.

But change is looming on the horizon. And while Lara Jean is having fun and keeping busy helping plan her father’s wedding, she can’t ignore the big life decisions she has to make. Most pressingly, where she wants to go to college and what that means for her relationship with Peter. She watched her sister Margot go through these growing pains. Now Lara Jean’s the one who’ll be graduating high school and leaving for college and leaving her family—and possibly the boy she loves—behind.

When your heart and your head are saying two different things, which one should you listen to?

My rating

☆☆☆☆★ · 4/5 stars. Loved it, but it wasn’t the best out of the three books.

Review

Jenny Han killed it, as usual. Her writing is absolutely delicious and quite addicting. Once you start it, you’ll most likely never stop until you have devoured the whole thing.

Although I loved AAFLJ, I do consider the first two books to be better. Why? Because this one felt a little… unnecessary. Don’t get me wrong, I could read about these characters forever – and I will, if she continues on with the series -, but there basically wasn’t a plot. Nothing really happened, with one or two exceptions, so this could definitely have stayed a duology. I’m glad it didn’t though – I love me some Peter Kavinsky!!

“You’re nice and lean with little muscles.”

“You really know how to emasculate a guy, Covey”

The characters were amazing, as all of Jenny Han’s characters are. The family dynamic is honestly so good, it just feels real, you know? It’s so relatable, especially Lara Jean’s relationship with Kitty, because Kitty reminds me of my sister who is actually her age.

Overall, this is one of those books where you can totally see where everything is going, but you still enjoy it A LOT, and you’ll be left craving more. Also a very good beach read!
