Hi everyone!! Welcome to another Top 5 Tuesday post. T5T is a bookish meme hosted by Shanah over at Bionic Book Worm. If you’re interested in January’s prompts, you can check them out here.

This week we’re talking all about intimidating books. To me, intimidating books are usually either very big books that seem never-ending or extremely popular books that I have high expectations for. Is it the same for you? Let me know ☺️

Let’s get right into the books…

5. The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson

isbn9780575089914

This is a book that has been SOOOO praised here in the book community. Everyone loves this series, and I’m sure I will too…

But have you seen the size of these books? Each one is a goddamned behemoth. This requires a level of commitment I’m not ready for at the moment 😛

4. 11.22.63 by Stephen King

This was the second Stephen King book I ordered… clearly a mistake. This is over 700 pages long, and I had no idea until it got here…

My criteria for starting with Stephen King were Goodreads ratings, and this one is one of the highest rated books of his, so there ya go 😀 Unfortunately, it’ll probably be a while until I pick this one up :/

3. Lord of the Rings trilogy by J. R. R. Tolkien

This one I’ve been really scared to dive into. Firstly, it is like the bible of fantasy. A lot of the fantasy we have today has somehow been inspired by LOTR, so that’s a huge burden in itself.

Secondly, I actually started reading The Hobbit and I wasn’t really too into it, so I’m scared I won’t like this either :/

Have you read Tolkien? What are your thoughts on his books?

2. The Crow Girl trilogy by Erik Axl Sund

I am like 99% sure this is a series I’m going to love and devour, but here’s the catch: besides the size of the series, everyone says this is a very graphic and disturbing read.

Needless to say, I need to be in the right mindset to be able to read this and not be scarred for life, considering this features pedophilia and probably mutilation of children’s bodies… it’s gonna be quite the traumatic experience hahaha

1. The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt

This one is #1 because, like, have you seen the size of this book? I have the hardcover version and it’s H-U-G-E, I’m terrified of picking this book up 😀

Let me know all about your most intimidating books down in the comments!

Thank you for reading,
I’ll see you in my next post ♡
